Erased Tapes’ very first signee Ryan Lee West (Rival Consoles) is known for creating humanised electronic music from an instantly recognisable palette of haunted, noisy and broken synths. Having played acoustic instruments such as the guitar, piano and drums for years, West approaches electronic music from a songwriter’s perspective by fusing those skills with technological knowledge, in part adopted when studying Creative Sound Technology at De Montfort University.
His impressive resume includes tours and remixes with and for artists such as Clark, Max Cooper and Jon Hopkins, his music featuring in various productions for Alexander McQueen, Paul Smith, and the 2022 Winter Olympics, along with original music commissioned for Netflix’s Black Mirror and The Figo Affair, Secret Cinema’s Blade Runner and Stranger Things UK/LA, Alexander Whitley’s Overflow, and other contemporary dance, theatre, advertising productions and short films.
